Spotlight on the Woman of Influence behind an iconic Gold Coast brand

Karen Seefeld and her husband Marcus, started their business in the backyard of their Gold Coast home 17 years ago – today it is an iconic local brand.

Ask anyone, even school children, to recall the ASAP Glass jingle and even their phone number and they will start singing “My glass is cactus and I need to fix it fast, ASAP Glaaaaaassss…”

It was Karen and Marcus’s idea to engage Wazza from London Music production to come up with the catchy jingle, and love it or not it’s imbedded in our memories for when we truly need them “24 hours a day, 7 days a week..”

Today, we see the cactus on the sides of buses, hear the jingle on Hot Tomato radio and see the ads on TV.

ASAP Glass is now a family empire with Karen and Marcus’s two sons both involved in entirely different but crucial areas of the business – Reece is in Accounts payable and Jai is on the front line as a qualified glazier. Karen’s niece Kaila is in marketing, Candice has been with the business almost since day one and the entire team are like one big happy family.

The team is currently preparing to help clean up after the catastrophic bush fires and before the storm season hits.  They have also recently added a string to their bow by becoming one of the only accredited Crimsafe Licensees.

Karen is certainly the strength of the business when it comes to process and management – the team know they’re in trouble if they have to step foot in her office.  They also know that she is firm, but fair, hardworking but also caring and always has their back.

Karen has been coming to Women of Influence events since Kellie Swann from Hot Tomato introduced her 3 years ago.  She loves to escape the male dominated industry to join like-minded and motivated businesswomen.

Before coming to WOI events, Karen didn’t have the opportunity to regularly connect with businesswomen whom she can talk to and gain advice from.  At work her team are often coming to her to solve problems, whereas at Women of Influence events she can have a break and focus on her own personal growth and positive business relationships (as well as have a lot of fun 😊 )

Thanks for being such a great role model and an excellent supporter of Women of Influence Karen!
